Uwe Kurt Skrzypczak

Uwe Skrzypczak was born in September 1958 in Bottrop, Germany, and since his childhood has taken an interest in photography. His main focus was initially the photographing of architecture and archaeological finds, and then later, pictures for his own advertising agency.

A chance visit to Kenya at the end of the nineties altered his life completely, as he changed direction to the photographing of the natural world; as a result of this, environmental issues became his major interest. In 2005, he began his professional career as a book author and wildlife photographer, specialising in East Africa, in particular the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem.

He now writes specialist publications, coffee-table books, non-fiction, and books for children about the animal world of East Africa, and is strongly engaged in the preservation of the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem, one of our last areas of outstanding natural beauty with its annual migration of massed herds.

Uwe Skrzypczak hopes, with his photographs, books, (and most of all those for children), to inspire more people to take a serious interest in the natural world, and in so doing contribute to the preservation of these last remaining unspoiled environments.
