Takashi Kijima

Born in CA, U.S.A. in 1920. Returning to Japan in 1923, he spent his childhood in Tottori, Japan. After graduating from School of art (major in Theater) at Nihon University in Tokyo, he went back to Tottori, where he grew up and studied under a photographer, Shoji Ueda. In 1953, he moved back to Tokyo to become a professional photographer and established his studio in 1956. In 1958, he had an exhibition, "Hadaka," and published "Ran" and "Yoshitsune Senbonzakura." He has won Japan Professional Photographers Society (JPS) Annual Award in 1976 and the 4th class of Zuihosho (Order of the Sacred Treasure) in 1991.
