Juan Carlos Munoz

Juan Carlos is one of the premier Spanish's nature and wildlife photographers. He has been freelance professional nature photographer since 1990 when he finished his degree in Biology. His interest in ecology and the essence of nature led him to use photography as a vehicle of expression and never turned back.

He has travelled to all seven continents to shoot in the most remote places and his images had received the recognition of prestigious awards as the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2009 were he obtained the Second Prix of the Gerald Durrell Award for Endangered Wildlife, he was the Winner of the Nature's Best 2009 in the Endangered Species Category, he has been awarded by the prestigious European Nature Heritage Fund (EuroNatur) with the 5th Prize fo Nature Treasures of Europe of the Year 2010. Furthermore he was Runner-up in the GDT 2009 in the Landscape Category, he has beem awarded with the Grand Prix of the Jury of the Contest Nature Namur Festival of the years 2009 and 2010, and the Asferico 2010 honored him as the Winner of the Mammals Category.

Just with his tireless attitude and his knowledge he has reached hidden locations all over the world and documented the world most endangered wild creatures in their own habitats. Likewise his creative photographic activity has made him familiar with anywhere of Spain and most of Europe. The special atmosphere of his images and the creatures integrated within their environment can be seen regularly in leading Spanish magazines and newspapers, as well as in the international media, advertisement and publicity.

Juan Carlos has published fourteen author books and has contributed to numerous large format books, travel guides and educational books. Also he is a regular collaborator of the WWF Spain. Furthermore he is one of the european photographers who are contributing to build the prestigious project Wild Wonders of Europe.
